Launchworks & Co‘s mission is to help companies succeed in the new Platform Economy.

Why existing management frameworks are no longer adequate

The traditional linear model of the firm no longer provides an adequate representation of business realities in many industries. Analytical frameworks guiding established firms are now showing their limits as new organisational forms emerge. The top two brands in the world (Apple & Google) are now “platform-powered businesses”. They derive value from their “matchmaking” ability rather than from the provision of traditional products or services. The underlying economics of such businesses are at odds with traditional frameworks and management techniques. As a results, competition is redefined. Pricing follows different rules since matchmaking is often more efficient under subsidy conditions. Marketing is reinvented and “big data” techniques can be leveraged. The innovation gap between traditional businesses and  digital players has never been more stark and seems to be widening.
